Now for a really great side dish!

Southern Baked Beans

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (15 oz each) baked beans (your favorite brand)
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper (any color)
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 4 strips of cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the baked beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, molasses, Dijon mustard, and smoked paprika if using.
  3. Add Bacon: Stir in the crumbled bacon if you’re using it.
  4. Transfer and Bake: Pour the mixture into a baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered for about 30 minutes, or until the beans are hot and bubbly.
